Welcome to your confessional thread! Every round you will be required to upload two confessionals. I'm at work, so I don't have time to record another video confessional but I have a few quick updates since I posted those yesterday.
Shortly after I filmed my confessional(s), I called with Waylon. (I don't think the call was recorded so RIP to that.) At first it was a really good and positive conversation. He's very enthusiastic and reassuring about how excited he is to work with me, and more broadly, Georgina and I as a pair. He also seemed to push that he likes Sam as a 4th. Which like, sure, perfect... my 2 closest allies and him. But it does make me wonder what he sees his place there as? He said he likes both Georgina and I a lot, and that he thinks Sam is a good person to have as well. I mentioned that I think Sam is great and also in a good position, likely having better connections to the other tribe than anyone else (which I said could be good for us heading into a merge situation.) I reiterated that Sam has more options, but Georgina and I really don't besides each other -- as a way to hopefully reinforce that we aren't to be seen as a dangerous duo, but instead as 2 valuable allies to gain together. He indicated that he sees Sam as someone who is well-positioned but as "not really having done anything" in the game, and someone good to have around at the end. I sort of smiled and nodded because I don't really see it that way at all... I think there is huge power in being that middle person who is receiving all the info and not really gaining a target. But again, perception is reality, and if that's truly Waylon's perception of Sam, then sure... if I end up at the end next to her, maybe it means I get his vote.
There is something about how blunt Waylon kind of talks about the game with me that is a little unnerving. Like, don't get me wrong, I appreciate someone who isn't ridiculously cagey. But he speaks in a way that's a mix of him being direct with his own opinions -- along with what I consider to be almost... leading questions. I got some questions like "So you would agree that Jack and Carley are kind of on the bottom here?" And the phrasing almost makes you feel like it's a test, so that if I agree, even though *he* prompted the statement, he could go back to someone and say "Oh Jenny said she thinks Jack and Carley are on the bottom."
Which leads me to...
...The "Georgina said she'd be willing to cut Jenny" thing that came up between Sam and I post-tribal on Monday night. I felt like he was baiting me into saying that I would be willing to cut Georgina -- and knowing what I know from Sam, that raised a HUGE red flag. He basically was like "well you know you and Georgina are seen to be playing closely, are you ok with the idea that you might need to cut her around the merge?" And he also straight up asked me about the perception that Georgina and I are ride or dies til the end. I totally sidestepped the question because I was afraid it was baiting. I explained that I have been working closely with Georgina all game and have no reason to betray her at this point. But also that I realize her and I do need to be aware of the perception of us and be able to differentiate our games from each other. I also explained that while we have been working together all game and it makes sense for us to continue to, we have never made any sort of final 2 deal. All of this is true, and none of this means I have said I'd be willing to cut Georgina. So... if somehow I get wind that he's trying to say I said I'd cut Georgina.... HELLLLLL NAHHHHH.
I'm really just trying to get a sense of what his gameplan is here. He seems so excited and relieved to be working with us, but I am super wary of the way he approaches things with his words. I am also still trying to piece together why he is vehemently against working with Carley, when the two of them voted together for 2 straight tribals, and by default, with CJ gone, he could be her closest ally. He seemed more than willing to jump the Varia ship to work with new people. With Jack's story about what happened with him at the Abby vote, that "start fresh" attitude makes a bit of sense. But why is Waylon wiping his hands clean from a situation that seemingly did him no harm? It doesn't sound like Carley did anything to betray him...
Long story short, I am extremely skeptical about Waylon now. I do think he needs me/us, but I'm concerned about what potential chaos he might be trying to cause. It could be as little as trying to drive tiny wedges between Georgina and I so that there's more room for him... but I am worried about this being a bigger problem down the road. My preference is still to win and plan to work with this group at the merge, but....... Waylon my dude... I have my eye on you.
